Both the SQL and Desktop versions enjoy
the same high quality, ease of use, and award
winning interface. Their features are the same. They differ in how
they store their data.
Data Storage
Both versions use Microsoft Data Base engines. The desktop uses the Microsoft
Jet Engine 4.0 (the same engine Access uses), while the SQL Server version
can utilize any SQL Server 6.5 or greater.
Note: Our software can share an existing SQL Server, it does not need
to be dedicated.
When to use SQL
The SQL Version is typically indicated when you have:
A heavy multi-user environment (simultaneous imports, transmissions)
High record capacity (over 100,000 checks per account, per month)
Unique security issues (i.e., government contracts requiring SQL
Server security)
Can the Desktop version be shared?
Yes, using an Intranet source/published document scenario.
See How
do I share my data with my coworkers.
Can I migrate my data from the Desktop version to the SQL Server version?
Yes, easily. There is a built in wizard for migration purposes.
Since there are more users on the SQL Server, how much faster does
it run than the Desktop?
There is a difference between scalability (number of users) and performance
(speed). While it is easy to assume that the SQL version would be faster,
this may not always be true, as there are other factors to consider, beyond
our control, such as:
Network traffic
SQL Server load from other applications
