What is a Bank's Positive Pay service?
Positive Pay is an anti-fraud service offered by virtually every major
bank, which enables them to verify the authenticity of checks presented
against your account.
Each time you write checks, you send the check register to the bank. Subsequentaly,
as these checks are presented to the bank for payment, they are matched
to the cumulative list of check registers that you've sent. If the check
number and amount are an exact match, the check is cleared. Otherwise,
the check is held as an exception and is further reviewed.
Each bank differs as to their specific format, transmission method, and
location to receive your file.
